Public Service Announcement

Over the past year or two, there's been a noticeable rise in new 'mobile mechanic' services appearing across the Isle of Wight.
Whilst some are genuine, not all are as qualified or experienced as they claim to be. Some of them claim to have been trading for years, but this is not the case, in fact, far from it.
These inexperienced individuals can put both your vehicle and safety at risk.
Simply applying a few decals to a vehicle, acquiring some tools, and being able to change oil or brake pads does not make someone a mechanic. Becoming a true professional in this trade requires proper education, time served, and hands-on experience. This includes formal training, college studies and years of developing genuine skill and understanding of automotive systems.
Whilst I appreciate that everyone has to start somewhere, that learning should not take place, without supervision, on customers' vehicles.
This is why I encourage everyone to be careful about who they call and to rely on qualified, experienced professionals.
I fully believe that healthy competition is a good thing, and I welcome it. It keeps standards high for everyone. However, your safety and your vehicle's safety must always come first.
As the owner of RBS Autos, I've been trading on the Isle of Wight for 14 years and have over 32 years of experience in the motor trade. I hold NVQ levels 1, 2 and 3, plus City and Guilds certifications, ensuring all work is carried out to a professional and reliable standard.
When choosing a mobile mechanic, please make sure that they are:
-
Fully qualified and properly certified
-
Experienced, with a proven background in the trade
-
Fully insured and operating legitimately
-
Trusted and recommended by real customers
Choosing the cheapest or newest option may seem appealing, but poor workmanship can lead to unsafe repairs or costly issues later on.
Your vehicle is a major investment, as well as vital transport, which often carries those that mean the most to you, don't risk putting their safety in the hands of someone who may not know what they are doing.

Workshop Update

Exciting news! Well, for me at least, as it means less time outside in the cold and rain laying on the floor! We now have two 2-post ramps in our fully fitted workshop. So, we can take on larger jobs that cannot be done outside or on the floor.
